HOME CARE vs HOME HEALTH

People receive HOME HEALTHCARE when they need help to live independently and safely at their residences.
We understand finding the right care for the loved ones can be challenging and stressful, and we are here to help.
Here is how you can find the best care for the patient.
WHO NEED HOME CARE?

Those whom have these medical conditions often need short- or long-term home care to complete daily activities:
-
Alzheimer's
-
Forms of dementia (e.g. Parkinson's)
-
High blood pressure
-
Diabetes
-
Pneumonia
-
Urinary tract infection
-
Chronic or genetic diseases that limits the patient's mobility
-
Hip or knee replacement
-
Arthritis

The journey usually started when the patient:
-
Was admitted to the hospital
-
Started losing ability to live independently (ex. Alzheimer's, Parkinson's)
-
Has limited or zero mobility because of surgery or chronic diseases such as arthritis

The patient's medical team (physician, nurse, social worker) would consult with the patient and the family to figure out the best long-term care.
WHEN SHOULD THE PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES CONSIDER HOME CARE?

If The Patient:
-
Is able to recover at home with family
-
Is unable to live with the family
-
Needs intense out-patient medical care

The patient can choose HOME CARE (medical/non-medical) from a licensed provider that recruits, trains, and manages professional caregivers to visit and provide the patient care at the patient's residence. The care is the most effective because the ratio of caregiver and patient is 1:1.

The patient will live with other elderly people in a NURSING HOME. The ratio of caregiver and patients is usually 1:10 or more.

The patient will stay in SHORT-TERM SKILLED CARE UNIT until the patient is ready to transfer to other types of care or when the patient's Medicare or private insurance no longer covers the cost. The ratio of professional medical staff and the patient is often >4:1.
